I hope you all had a relaxing Easter with the family and a lovely long weekend. I made gluten-free AND dairy-free hot cross buns on Friday as I was planning my fast for Easter Sunday. They came out quite well but need a bit of work as they are quite ‘rustic’ and the dough was a bit cracked. Still yummy though!
My recipe was based on a website I found on the internet for gluten-free hot cross buns but swapped a few things out to make it dairy-free too. For example, butter was replaced with Olivio (olive oil spread) and milk was replaced with hazelnut milk. No sugar was added but the sultanas, mixed peel, cinnamon and mixed spices created the sweet taste.
Next time I want to try apple and cinnamon gluten-free hot cross buns.
